Homeopathy for Prevention?
Back in the Swine flu days, I used to get phone calls from people claiming they heard from someone that there was a homeopathic vaccination for the Swine Flu. They were looking for homeopathic prevention methods for protecting the body against swine flu.
OR, some people believe they should take Arnica before surgery. As a form of prevention against the soreness and bruising experienced after surgery.
Would you take Apis because you may or may not get stung by a bee? Would you take cantharsis , because you may or may not get a burn? Mine as well take symphytum just incase you fall off a cliff and break a leg.
The whole concept of homeopathy is that you give a remedy when the symptoms are present. Never prescribe remedies based on phantom symptoms that the patient is not experiencing, but you think MIGHT experience. The patient must be expressing the symptoms before the remedy is needed. Otherwise you will prove the remedy . This is the entire basis of homeopathy !
Only give Arnica when you actually HAVE the symptoms associated with the use of Arnica. The patient must have clear symptoms which ONLY call for Arnica, such as lameness, soreness, bruising, etc.
In the swine flu case, you only give a remedy when a person is expressing symptoms of the swine flu, and not before hand. We can not conclude what KIND of symptoms the person will experience once they get the swine flu, and therefore can not even begin to imagine what those unique symptoms might be. Everybody expresses symptoms differently, even if they suffer from the same virus. Therefore how can we give a homeopathic remedy? Even if we could use it for prevention.
Homeopathy is not used for prevention. It is used to treat present symptoms. Only real healing will lead you down the road of true prevention. Diet, exercise, enough sleep, and water are always going to be the best prevention measures.
Hope this helps,
