The Suffering That Attachment Brings
I have had a huge move in my life recently. To a new home. All I brought was my bed and a few boxes. WHY? Because I do not own much, or have much, and that's the way I like it. Over the years I have had the privilege to buy nice things because I had a lucrative job working for hydro.

- be responsible for my things,
- repair my things,
- guard my things,
- replace my things,
- lose partners fighting over things,
- others being jealous because I had more things,
- the elite not speaking to me because I didn't have the RIGHT things,
- managing my things,
- storing my things,
- moving my things,
- babying my things,
- feeling inadequate all the time because I felt I didn't have enough things,
- finding people to buy your OLD things,
- be liable in court for the friggin things
You get the point. It brought me so much stress and unhappiness. One day I said SCREW IT, and did the great PURGE of my things.
Ideally I wanted to be able to USE nice things without the burden of having to buy them, be liable for them, and all the CRAP that goes along with them. So I created that in my new space. It's great.
Most of the things people buy, they don't even need. Then why do people bother?
Answer: people base their entire self worth over it. It seems that there is a common belief in society that the more you own, the more worthy you must be. It's a load of crap, and all it does is create dependency and unhappiness.
Who cares if that pot is from Pottery Barn or the shoes are made from Prada. I learned that what truly matters is:
1.) Being in nature
2.) Being free
3.) Having loving people in your life
4.) Being healthy
And of course Homeopathy :)
STOP with the things !! As a hydro worker I felt sorry for the average home owner. In my opinion homes are poorly made, same as cars, and they always have to be maintained and repaired. What kind of freedom can you enjoy when you work all your life just to pay for your things? Then there is the utility bills, the land taxes, cable, food, furniture, and ninety nine percent of it depreciates in value.
What THINGS can you free yourself from today?
