Hashimoto's Thyroiditis was named after Hakaru Hashimoto who was a Japanese physician and the first one to come down with what is know known as Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. In 1912 he was diagnosed with an inflammation of the thyroid. Basically this is an autoimmune disease which causes your body to attack its own tissue which can lead to tissue damage. The result of the wrong type of antibodies attacking the tissue and showing up in the blood stream is an infiltration of immune cells in your thyroid gland. This damages the thyroid tissue and reduces the production of hormones which can lead to hypothyroidism.

My herbalist Roger from Thunas Herbs on the Danforth in Toronto, claims that there is a very obscure herb that is not well known but DOES bring thyroid levels back to normal. He says this herb in particular regulates the whole anomaly behind hashimotos. In hashimotos thyroidistis, the thyroid antibodies elevate and so do the TSH levels, as one goes up so does the other. This herb specifically regulates this condition. 

Roger says it can be used to completely replace the toxic thyroid drugs, and says there is no research to conclude that this herb is toxic in any way. This herb is called "bugleweed", or  "carpetweed". This herb can be used indefinitely for this condition. As powerful as herbs are, Roger also understands that herbs are very rarely curative. They can take away the symptoms of the disease, he claims, which is considered to be "cured" in Western philosophy, so "bugleweed" may be considered to be the cure for hashimotos.

But, Roger claims, we both know this isn't true, real cure comes from treating the mental and emotional wounds that create this kind of imbalance in the first place.  So only homeopathy can really cure anything ! But he says what we try to do as herbalists is naturally regulate the body, take the pain away for people, so people can function,  while the homeopathy cures the condition.  This is the ultimate solution.
