Nutrition For Hypothyroid

There are certain foods that have been known to help a sluggish thyroid, and nurse it back to health.  But it is important to know that a person needs to be consistent, for a while, to see results.

1.) Seaweeds
: One of the few foods out there that contain all glyconutrients Glyconutrients are the key to effective cellular communication and proper cell function. This has been established by the world's leading scientists and researchers.

Glyconutrients are not vitamins, minerals, amino acids or enzymes, but are in a class of their own as nutritional supplements derived from plants. Glyconutritional supplements are formulated based on new understanding in the biochemistry of how the human body maintains health at the cellular level. Healthy cells lead to healthy tissue - healthy tissue leads to healthy organs - and healthy organs lead to healthy bodies.

Every cell in our body - all 600 trillion of them - needs glyconutrients.

One type of seaweed doesn't contain all of them, but rather a mixture of many will ensure a complete intake of essential glyconutrients. For example blending kelp, dulse and nori, will give all the essential glyconutrients. Many experts say you just need kelp for optimal thyroid function, but rather all seaweeds are good for the thyroid, and combining them gives a better nutritional benefit, than just using one. They are incredibly cheap, all you do is sprinkle them onto your food. A great add in to this mixture can be nutritional yeast, packed with B vitamins and protein.  Seaweeds are also high in salt, and minerals, which are mandatory for thyroid function.

2.) Coconut Oil:  A healthy saturated fat made from coconuts that will gently stimulate thyroid function, and increase its function.

3.) Maca: A peruvian root, that normalizes the entire endocrine system, also known to be the best fertility herb on Earth, and can heal many imbalances resulting from an endocrine malfunction.

4.) Celtic Sea SaltA wonderful replacement to table salt, the sea contains all the minerals essential for man, and this is a great way to get it. It's also cheap to buy, and lasts forever.

All these are pointers but will not likely do much if the overall diet is poor. A diet change is necessary in many cases. Processed refined foods, junk foods, too much sugar can over power any kind of healing benefits seaweeds may supply. For any type of dis-ease, a diet change is mandatory.  The body works as a whole, and the whole body must be nourished for the entire system to perform, these foods help the thyroid, but a diet change helps the whole body.

Myth

Some people say to avoid things like kale, cabbage, spinach, and brussel sprouts, because they may block thyroid function. But I want to point out that choosing these foods is still going to fare better than processed food. Choosing kale is going to be better than choosing french fries. Choosing cabbage is going to fare better than choosing cheesecake. Choosing brussel sprouts is better than choosing a lolli pop. So it is important to put things into perspective.
