Homeopathy: Simile or Simillimum?

What all homeopaths strive for is to pick that one remedy that is going to cure the patient's disease. This is called the simillimum, where the homeopath has hit the "nail on the head" the effects go right to "the core". Then there is something called the simile, where the remedy partially cures the patient's condition, and there is some progress towards betterment but not "Earth" shattering in terms of its effect.

Many homeopath's choose close similes, and only the best consistently get the simillimum. This is why homeopathy is considered a crap shoot, by so many, this is why some say homeopathy doesn't work! Now you know why.  Many homeopaths zig zag their way to improvement because, getting the exact right remedy isn't easy. Getting the right remedy depends on so many factors:

1.) did the homeopath take a good case?
2.) does the homeopath understand their remedies?
3.) does the homeopath know what to prescribe on?
4.) does the homeopath follow the instructions of "the organon" ?
5.) how intuitive is the homeopath?
6.) is the homeopath observant?

Sometimes the only way to heal is to use similes, because many patients have a component of their psyche that resists change, or that is afraid of change, or that wants to hide their inner feelings. The homeopath then has to select a remedy to heal this psychological layer, or block, that is resistant to change, or that masks the real issues.

For example: I had a patient that struggled with following authority in her life. So she was not open to following my instructions. We couldn't proceed until this was delt with first.

So I gave homeopathic Chamomile, and the next month the patient was open to following instructions. Healing could proceed to a deeper level.

Another example: I  had a patient whose mood was not level enough, so I could not see her state clearly, her mood was up then down, the case was "fuzzy". So I had to give homeopathic Ignatia, to calm the emotional body down enough so she could speak more clearly. The next month she was very calm, and I could finally see what the underlying issue was.

These are examples of similes BUT the only way to get anywhere is to remove those outer layers that block or mask the inner most feelings.

When the true simillimum is achieved the results are earth shattering. This is what I have seen happen in my practice.

1.) Old physical symptoms return in a cascade, old emotional issues resurface, old patterns with others play out, the patient feels as if they are going back in time
2.) striking improvement and cure proceeds rapidly
3.) some symptoms get worse, then get better
4.) the patient feels a strong improvement in their levels of energy
5.) their overall outlook on life is drastically changed, and they can cope better

As you can see, homeopathy isn't linear, and healing is a different process for many. But overall it requires going backwards and making amends to all that has happened to us.
