The Effects of Modern Living on Homeopathic Prescribing

Potency selection has been largely controversial in the homeopathic community. Taking a remedy rests on two important factors.

1.) Potency
2.) Dosage

Potency refers to the overall strength of the homeopathic remedy, and dose refers to the amount of the remedy a person receives. Potency in homeopathy has a range

Low:  6c, 12c, 30c
Medium:  200c
High:  1M and up

We were taught in school that potency selection rests on three main factors.
1.) age of the patient, typically children and eldery should receive lower potency
2.) sensitivity of the patient to the remedy, sensitive people should be given a lower potency
3.)  the strength of the vital force, in other words, the overall health of the person, if the health is compromised we should give lower potencies.

In my practice I give only 6c- 30c. Low potency. Many homeopaths start at 200c with their patients, medium potency. I am going to explain why I choose only low potency.  It is in my observation based on living in our processed, polluted, technocratic world, that everyones vital force or health is compromised to a great degree thereby every patient should start at a low potency. I am going to list all the factors that greatly compromise our health, and you will discvover that almost every person is subjected to it.

1
.) AIR POLLUTION
2.) toxins in our foods, such as herbicides, fungicides, pesticides, insecticides, suicides, and homicides
3.) consuming nutrient deficient processed foods, and consuming meat and dairy products, injected with steroids and growth hormone, and also not consuming foods that are high in nutrients
4.) addictions to coffee, alcohol, sugar, marijuana, that people entertain daily
5.) regularily taking drugs and medications for disease and pain, such as aspirin
6.) drinking polluted tap water, or bottled water stored in leachable plastic containers (plastic wrecks havoc on the endocrine system)
7.) stress and unhappiness
8.) having a disease
9.) having a complicated disease (more than one disease operating in different areas in the same person)
10.). miasm (homeopathic term referred to inherited predispostions to a certain disease)--I would like to add that most people have more than one miasm. In layman's terms, miasm, is basically a genetic imprint of illness
11.) allergies
12.) sedentary lifestlye, inactivity
13.) too much time indoors, and not enough time outdoors, leading to vitamin D deficiency
14.) being subjected to ELF radiation, such as cell phones, and wireless technology

So if most people are subjected to these factors on a daily basis, then one must conclude that the average persons health is severely compromised to the extent that low potency prescribing is the only option. I have given thought to the affects of modern living on the population. I also feel dosing frequently about every two weeks is also ideal, all these above factors can diminish the efficacy of the remedy, and it is important to encourage the vital force to respond consistently. We want to gently and consistently stimulate our bodys innate healing potential. In my opinion a low potency woud be like gently nudging a horse to water, versus a medium potency would be like using a cattle prod, to nudge the horse to its water.  My philosophy is also congruent with Arndt Schultz  law that we were also taught in first year homeopathy.  It stipulates that low potencies or concentrations of a medicine, stimulate, and high potency or concentrations kill or inhibit the organism.  We were encouraged to prescribe on giving the best effect for the minimal amount of potency and dosage.
